I think that an open source design is an excellent idea. I like that =
Bob Ledoux has made his Balloon Building Journals available on CD =
seizing today's technology to distibute information. And, by going =
open source, we may actually get more participation in the sport. But =
not huge participation since this is similar to building your own car =
in order to take a scenic drive or compete in a local race.
And, Don, to wiki your designs is not in the interest of true open =
source. You would have to make those designs available under whatever =
open source license we come up with. Otherwise it's just theft of =
intellectual property.
I think that a 12-gore AX7 design is a good start. It'll fly under =
any basket and satisfy most people who want to fly small at higher =
altitudes like those of us living in the Rockies.

The nice thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from.
