[Balloon-makers] NPR story on my blimp

yeah, back in the salad years. 

Different Topic:  I've been flying a King KT-76
transponder in my balloon, and have been getting
pretty spotty service from the 7 A hr lead acid gel
cell battery.  The transponder measures a piggish 1.2
amps draw when on but not getting interrogated.    I'm
not sure how much more juice the transponder draws
when getting interrogated.    Does anyone else run a
transponder and what size battery do they use to power
it?
