Where are you seeing numbers like 0.5 and 0.75 oz.? This looks like the
weight of the fabric before the coating. A while back I ordered some
samples of coated 0.4 oz. fabric (used for kites) to see if it might be
adapted to balloons. It weighed in at 1.14 oz. Quite a difference from the
"advertised" weight. However, if you are on to material that really weighs

Subject: [balloon-makers] .5 & .75 oz fabric

I know many people use the 1.1 oz calendared fabric in the lower 1/2 to 3/4
of the envelope, but does anyone know if using a very light 0.5 oz or 0.75
oz fabric would work for just the lower 1/4 of the envelope?

Any help would be great.
